Alibaba (BABA) could be the best emerging stock to buy in the new year, as 2016 shapes up to be a better year for EM investors. Alibaba, which is listed in New York, is ‘the embodiment of China’s move to an economy more geared toward internal consumption,’ according to TheStreet’s contributor Kabir Sehgal. Sehgal also believes Indonesia can provide strong returns next year, and he likes food producer Indofood, which he said is trading at near historical lows. In Latin America, Sehgal likes Banorte, a Mexican bank which currently has a 14% share of the loan market. Sehgal expects emerging markets overall will recover from their slump in 2015, providing double digit returns in 2016.
