Verizon (VZ) is targeting Millennial viewers with a new online mobile video service which is expected to be launched over the coming weeks. The new addition, called Go90, will offer free shows and include content from partners such as AOL, Vice Media and Dreamworks (DWA). Verizon was initially considering more ambitious partnerships with broadcast networks and a live feed as part of a subscription based online TV model, but plans have since been scaled back, according to Bloomberg news. The focus has now shifted towards creating a strong social media presence and running targeted advertisements. Though Verizon has yet to announce specific details of the service, a statement released earlier this summer told users to ‘Stay tuned, ‘Go90′ will not be like anything you’ve seen from us before.’ The ‘mobile first’ nature of the service is being heavily emphasized; the name ‘Go90’ instructs users to flip their mobile device 90 degrees sideways – the best way to watch content. It will also be made easy for viewers to share the video content via social media platforms such as Facebook (FB), Instagram and Twitter (TWTR).
