Taiwan’s TSMC plans to delay its chip plant project in Japan and prioritize operations in the United States to avoid tariffs imposed by President Trump, the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday.
However, TSMC said in a statement that its investment plans in the U.S. would not impact existing investment plans in other regions.
“TSMC does not comment on market rumor,” the statement said, adding the company’s global manufacturing expansion strategy “is based on customers’ needs, business opportunities, operating efficiency, the level of government support and cost economic considerations.”
