Business leaders who want to succeed can learn valuable lessons from the way Navy Seals operate, according to one expert. Veteran Navy Seal Officer Rob Roy is the author of the book ‘The Navy SEAL Art of War,’ and runs training programs designed to make executives battle ready for the office. Roy said his programs teach executives how to be more effective communicators and to build better bonds with their teams. His clients go through a rigorous physical fitness program, which Roy said helps executives realize they can accomplish anything that’s given to them. The program also puts executives in their employees shoes, enabling them to develop strategies to help push their workers to achieve goals. The book makes reference to a warrior mindset, and why that’s important for business leaders. According to Roy, ‘you want people to be creative, to have that mental fortitude to think outside the box, to be able to think that they are going to win in everything they do, and the only way to do that is have that warrior mindset.’ Roy said good leadership has four pillars: inspiration, direction, guidance and hope. Roy served with SEAL Team Six.
