The economy is starting to lost its luster according to Monty Bennett, CEO of The Ashford Group, a real estate investment trust. ‘We have 140 properties nationwide and we’ve seen strong growth and demand since the Great Recession, but over the last few months it has gotten a little choppy,’ he said. Bennett also said his business is somewhat impacted by the Federal Reserve’s desire to normalize policy following the financial crisis. He also said he expects the Fed to push interest rates into negative territory during the United States’ next recession. TheStreet’s Rhonda Schaffler reports from the 2016 Milken Institute Global Conference in Los Angeles.
