Over the weekend, there is an emergency EU summit to discuss Greece while thousands of Chinese stocks remain halted. Tech glitches from airlines to exchanges to online publications have also added to the uncertainty investors have been facing. The pickup in earnings season gives traders and analysts something else to focus on besides the slow grind in headlines related to Greece’s debt crisis and the uncertainty in China’s stock market. Mike Khouw and Jill Malandrino of Action Alerts OPTIONS point out that market participants will also have several economic data to watch out for including housing starts, retail sales, PPI, Empire State manufacturing, CPI and consumer sentiment. In addition, Federal Reserve President, Janet Yellen, will be providing her semi-annual report to the Senate Banking Committee on Wednesday and Thursday.
