A strong military is a vital way of preserving peace and neither political party has a monopoly on a strong defense, says Bernard Schwartz, former CEO of Loral Corporation and the author of “Just Say Yes”. Schwartz says he purchased Loral in 1971 because it had great technology, but was poorly managed. Schwartz eventually sold off the majority of Loral to Lockheed Martin for $9.1B, however, he was unable to repeat that success with satellite phone provider Globalstar, which went bankrupt.
