ByteDance, TikTok’s parent company, faces a September 17 deadline to sell its U.S. operations – or risk a shutdown.
This is all because of national security concerns over U.S. user data.
The U.S. and China have reached a ‘framework’ agreement. But – a deal seemed close back in March and that fell through so it’s still TBD.
President Trump reportedly said he was willing to let TikTok go dark – and that threat may have helped push the negotiations forward.
For now, U.S. users are left watching and waiting…
