CAROLINE WOODS: Amazon could soon be replacing workers with robots.
The country’s second-largest employer is reportedly gearing up for its biggest workplace shift yet – one that could replace more than half a million U.S. jobs over the next decade.
The New York Times reports Amazon plans to automate 75% of its operations, avoiding 600,000 new hires by 2033 – even as sales are expected double.
Amazon disputes the report, saying the documents don’t reflect its overall hiring strategy.
But if these plans move forward, experts warn Amazon could go from job creator… to job replacer.
