While Jack Gilinsky and Jack Johnson are household names for teens, those over 20 have probably never heard of them. Jack & Jack, the American comedians and musicians from Omaha, Nebaraska, have risen to the top on social with over one billion views on Vine, 32 million content views a month on Facebook and they’ve also managed to sell more than one million songs without a record label. Gilinsky said, ‘There are just so many different ways to touch somebody through a Vine or through a Tweet just by connecting with them on that personal level.’ As for Facebook, Johnson says, ‘if you’re older, you’re probably using Facebook.’ Gilinsky interjects, ‘no one our age uses Facebook anymore.’ TheStreet’s Ruben Ramirez also learned what it takes to make a good Vine at SXSW in Austin, Texas.
