Transcript:
Since taking the reins at Apple in 2012, Tim Cook has launched some of the most iconic products of our generation.
Apple Watches, AirPods, and so many iPhones helped push Apple to a more than $2.5 trillion market cap, making it world’s second-largest company.
But how much wealth has he built for himself?
What is Tim Cook’s net worth?
Cook owned over 3 million in Apple stock as of October 2023, which is less than one percent of Apple’s total shares.
To compare, Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos hold 13% stakes in Tesla and Amazon, respectively.
But like most CEOs, Cook receives a pretty generous annual salary.
In 2022, he was paid $84 million dollars.
His base pay was $3 million, but coupled with company equity and other perks, Cook’s total compensation came out to $99 million for the year.
But in 2023, he took a pretty steep pay cut – Apple’s board slashed Cook’s total compensation by 40 percent, making it $49 million.
He also has a sizable real estate portfolio.
Cook’s primary residence is a 2.4 million dollar home in Palo Alto, purchased in 2010.
He also owns a $10 million mansion on a private golf resort in La Quinta, California.
Outside of Silicon Valley, Cook is known for his philanthropy.
During the COVID pandemic, Cook donated $5 million and $2 million to two undisclosed organizations.
He’s also given to the American Cancer Society, Doctors Without Borders, PETA, and several others.
According to Fortune, Cook plans to donate most of his wealth( mainly in the form of Apple stock) to various charities when he dies.
As of April 2024, Tim Cook’s net worth is $2 billion, putting him low on the list of tech billionaires, but a billionaire nonetheless.
