More than two years after a merger deal fell apart, Frontier Airlines is considering another run at acquiring Spirit Airlines. Spirit is negotiating potential bankruptcy terms with its bondholders, and has been seeking options to restructure its balance sheet.
Citing sources familiar with the matter, the Journal said a merger deal, if it happens, would likely come as part of Spirit’s debt restructuring under a bankruptcy filing. The Journal added that discussions are in their early stages and it’s possible no deal will be made.
