Silicon Valley swindler Elizabeth Holmes is already plotting a comeback from her Texas prison camp, despite only being three years into her 10-year sentence.
The Theranos fraudster, 42, has managed to help her husband raise a reported $18 million for another blood testing startup, The Post has learned.
“She is shameless and delusional to think that she could be taken seriously again by any medical and biotech professionals,” a Silicon Valley biotech insider told The Post.
Much like her previous company — which reached a $9 billion valuation before the science behind it was proven to be bunk and she was convicted of scamming investors — the new business, called Haemanthus, is a health tech company that aims, once again, to revolutionize medical testing, according to reports.
“This is completely a joke,” the insider told The Post, noting the company has no publicly disclosed scientific advisors or peer-reviewed research for its product. “It sounds exactly like Theranos 2.0.”
The company, helmed by Holmes’ husband Billy Evans, 33, plans to build AI-driven devices which use lasers to scan blood and look for diseases. It has yet to publicly launch.
Evans, reps for Haemanthus and a lawyer for Holmes did not respond to requests for comment from The Post.
Holmes caught renewed attention over the Labor Day weekend when a clip of her was released to promote a new film documenting her final days as a free woman in 2023.
“Of course I’m not deceiving you. I’m engaging with you as a human being. Why would I deceive you? There’s no reason for me to do that,” an unblinking, wild-eyed Holmes says nose-to-nose with her interviewer in a teaser clip.
Throughout her trial and beyond, Holmes — a mother of two young children with Evans — has insisted she is innocent.
The new company run by Evans, Haemanthus, raised $3.5 million from friends and family and $15 million from elsewhere, according to the New York Times.
The company publicly insists Holmes has no formal role. But sources with direct knowledge told NPR last year that Holmes has been offering Evans advice from inside the clink.
In a prison interview, the convict told People magazine how she’s still working to resume her career.
“There is not a day I have not continued to work on my research and inventions,” she told the outlet. “I remain completely committed to my dream of making affordable healthcare solutions available to everyone.”
Prominent investors have passed on the Haemanthus pitch. In May 2025, venture capitalist Jim Breyer said his team declined to invest “for many of the same reasons we passed twice on Theranos.” Billionaire Michael Dell of Dell Technologies also turned down the opportunity, according to reports.
Holmes started Theranos in 2003 and ended up being billed as “the next Steve Jobs” by media outlets and venture capitalists.
She raised billons on the promise of a machine that could run hundreds of tests from just a pinprick of blood. But the tech never existed and investors were shown staged demos while blood samples went to secretly hacked commercial lab machines. Walgreens and Safeway partnered with the company until tests spit out false HIV and cancer results.
The company shut down three years after a 2015 expose in the Wall Street Journal documented the con. Ex-boyfriend and Theranos COO Ramesh “Sunny” Balwani is serving 13 years, and he and Holmes are also jointly on the hook for $452 million in restitution.
Last year, the Ninth Circuit rejected Holmes’s appeal — where she claimed trial errors and improper restitution — by citing overwhelming proof of her fraud.
At Federal Prison Camp, Bryan in Bryan, Texas — home to Ghislaine Maxwell and, until recently, “Real Housewives” star Jen Shah — Holmes works for $0.31 helping women slated for release write resumes.
She’s also helping fellow jailbirds learn French and was forced to add canned prison tuna to her diet after her vegan lifestyle caused anemia, the outlet reported.
The average person would hardly know she was incarcerated if they stumbled upon Holmes’s X account, which was revived in August 2025 with the bio line “Mostly my words, posted by others.” It is suspected to be run by Evans or another handler.
“Sometimes I genuinely can’t tell whether I’m under caffeinated or over caffeinated. My solution is usually to have another cup of coffee and see what happens. Not a great diagnostic,” one cheeky post from last week read.
In another post from last September, the account still preached the Theranos gospel, writing: “On Health: One of the areas we invested in deeply at Theranos was cytokine testing for inflammation. I have never been more convinced that chronic inflammation drives disease.”
Next month, the documentary teased last weekend will be released, which started filming 34 days before Holmes reported to federal prison in May 2023.
The film, “You Can See Everything,” shows the crew hang out with Holmes, Evans, and their kids as she recounts the Theranos saga, claiming it is misunderstood.
After Holmes disappears into federal lockup, Evans takes over her image, tweets in her name, and even talks profit with A24 execs on camera.
Early reviews noted that the filmmakers shy away from the subject of Holmes’s guilt or innocence to focus instead on how her performance never stops.
“She is a narcissist who has no empathy for the patients harmed by Theranos’s tests and takes no responsibility for what they went through,” added The Post’s source.
