NFL fans who follow player stats closely will soon have more data to track and the technology that’s being used could one day soon be embedded in athletic clothing made by the likes of Under Armour (UA) and Nike (NKE). Zebra Technologies (ZBRA) has teamed up with the NFL to be the league’s official Internet of Things (IoT) partner. As part of the agreement, the NFL is rolling out the technology at all 31 professional football stadiums across the country. Zebra’s CEO Anders Gustafsson said, ‘The data we can provide is how fast someone is running, how fast they are accelerating, how far they run. You can compare quarter versus quarter. So, any movement data. Eventually we will also track the ball and the ball flight.’ The stats fans can follow will be different depending on their location. ‘There will be different data available whether your watching on television, are inside the stadium or playing on xBox or fantasy football.’ TheStreet’s Ruben Ramirez has details from New York.
