Tesla’s technology is currently keeping the U.S. ahead of Japan and Europe in the race to successfully manufacture the electric car, said Levi Tillemann, author of ‘The Great Race’. Tillemann added that smart policy in California is a prime reason why Elon Musk’s company has raced ahead. He said Musk’s genius was in building an environmentally friendly car that looked like a sports car. Tillemann said the Prius kicked off the hybrid revolution and Toyota will continue to profit from it. Finally, Tillemann said the Google self-driving car will be the next great automobile and that the plunge in oil prices will not kill the development of the electric car.
