Twitter was a popular forum for potential voters to voice their thoughts during the first presidential debate of the 2016 election season. The social media company announced that it surpassed the 10.3 million tweets that were sent during the first debate in 2012. Twitter shares were not able to capitalize on the strong night however, they are lower Tuesday.
