The Takata airbag issue that has rankled the auto industry for over a year refuses to die, with Toyota announcing the recall of another 5.8 million vehicles equipped with the airbags, which lack a drying agent designed to prevent the buildup of moisture. A buildup of moisture has been identified as the reason for the airbags spontaneously exploding. The recall does not affect any vehicles in the U.S., but instead involves vehicles in Japan, Europe and China, among others.
