Harmful trans fats may soon be banished from America’s food supply, following a U.S. Food and Drug Administration announcement expected any day now. The move could prevent as many as 20,000 heart attacks and 7,000 deaths from heart disease a year, the FDA says. Most trans fats in food come from partially hydrogenated oils. Gap (GPS) announced Monday it will close a quarter of its stores and cut 250 corporate jobs as it tries to chart the clothing brand back toward growth. The company will close 175 stores across North America, not including outlets or factory stores, based on store performance. There will be additional store closures at European locations. About 140 stores will close this year. Gap will continue to operate about 500 Gap stores, plus 300 outlet stores. Tesla Motors (TSLA) upcoming Model 3 electric vehicle project will result in the creation of a sedan and a crossover vehicle, the Wall Street Journal reported on Monday. The company is also planning for cars beyond the Model 3 portfolio, and expects costs for battery technology to fall in coming years.
