Adding gold miner stocks and emerging markets bond funds to a portfolio will help reduce overall volatility, said Chris Minnucci, author of ‘The Death of Buy and Hold.’ Minnucci added that the best way to use volatility to your advantage is to add high volatility assets to your portfolio. He said he prefers to use index funds because lowering fees is the easiest way to improve a fund’s performance. Minnucci also said investors need to focus on volatility and inflation in retirement so as not to outlive their money. And while inflation is not a threat now, he said investors should not ignore the possibility that it can unexpectedly show up.
