TheStreet is out with five noteworthy tech predictions for the New Year, featuring all of your favorite companies. First, Amazon (AMZN) will eclipse Netflix (NFLX) as the preeminent content service. The industry pegs the number of Amazon Prime users at 45 million, compared to Netflix’s 70 million. But Amazon recently announced that it’s linking up with Showtime and Starz, offering Amazon Prime subscribers these channels at a discount. And that could be a game changer for Amazon. Next, TheStreet expects web giant Yahoo! (YHOO) to be sold to telecom behemoth AT&T (T), mirroring Verizon’s (VZ) acquisition of AOL earlier this year. Reports suggest Yahoo is looking to sell its core search and content business. And another year – another iPhone: we expect Apple (AAPL) to come out with a small iPhone – bringing back the 4-inch smartphone that was ditched in 2012 when the 4.7-inch iPhone 5 was released.
