The 2016 presidential race is heating up, with just a few days remaining until the all-important Iowa caucus and Donald Trump is still leading the latest national poll. A CNN/ORC poll showed Trump with 41 percent of the vote. This is the first time the GOP front runner eclipsed 40 percent in a CNN/ORC poll. Texas Sen. Ted Cruz is in second place with 19 percent, followed by Florida Sen. Marco Rubio with 8 percent. The next GOP debate airs Thursday night, though Trump said he will not attend and will instead host a charity event in Iowa. TheStreet will be covering the debate live.
