Henrietta Green was nicknamed the “Witch of Wall Street” because she dressed in black all the time and was pretty miserly.
But that’s probably why she also became as “the richest woman in America” in the late 1800s.
Granted she was born in 1834 to a wealthy family, but she took an interest in finance at an early age. She would read the financial pages to her father, and by the time she was 14, she stated that she knew “as much about finance as any man.”
She invested in stocks and bonds and turned her $6 million inheritance into $100 million by the time she died
Her trading philosophy was pretty simple.
“I buy when things are low and no one wants them. I keep them until they go up. And People are crazy to get them.”
And amazingly still holds true today. But watch our video to learn more about Hetty Green.
