March is Women’s History Month.
And since our offices are across from the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) ICE , we thought we’d showcase the women that have made their mark on the exchanges.
From inspiring quotes, to video and podcasts to an amazing webinar LIVE on TheStreet with some rock star women at the end of the month (that’s a tease! We’ll tell you more in the coming days!), we have it all covered.
So not only will you hear from today’s leading market voices, you will learn about the trailblazers of the past who used their self-determination and financial independence to push past the societal norms of the traditionally male-dominant world of finance.
You’ll learn about women from the 1800s like Abigail Adams who realized the advantages of trading bonds over purchasing farmland. And then Victoria Woodhull, who opened a brokerage on Wall Street and used her earnings to finance her newspaper. And Hetty Green who took control of her family’s estate so that she could manage it herself.
But today meet Muriel Siebert (1928-2013). Known as “Mickey” and the First Woman of Finance, she was the first woman to own a seat on the NYSE.
