U.S. stocks open the day as one of the most watched Federal Reserve meeting in recent memory gets underway in Washington. The Central Bank will meet today and tomorrow and is widely expected to raise interest rates. The question is more what kind of statement will the Federal Reserve release with their decision when it comes out tomorrow. 3M (MMM) lowered its profit outlook for 2015. Qualcomm (QCOM) is rebuffing calls for it to split the company. Republican presidential candidates will debate tonight in Las Vegas for the final time before the holidays. Valeant Pharmaceuticals (VRX) announced a 20 year partnership with Walgreen Boots Alliance under which it will offer discounts on a range of products. SiriusXM Satellite Radio (SIRI) has signed it’s talent Howard Stern to a new contract. As part of the deal, Stern will star and produce in some videos as well.
