Shares of Tesla (TSLA) were rising on Thursday after the electric vehicle maker said it set a new company record for Model S deliveries in the second quarter. Tesla said it sold 11,507 Model S vehicles during the period, a 52% increase from the 7,579 it delivered in the same quarter a year ago. Tesla warned that that number could slightly change by less than 1% when it reports its second-quarter results, as the company says it ‘counts a delivery if it is transferred to the end customer and all paperwork is correct.’ That brings the company’s total Model S deliveries so far in 2015 to 21,552 vehicles. Tesla chief executive Elon Musk has said the company’s goal is to deliver about 55,000 Model S and Model X vehicles, which would be a 70% rise from the year before. The Model X, currently in beta testing, is expected to become available in the third quarter of this year. This announcement marks only the second time since Tesla began releasing its quarterly results. TheStreet’s Brittany Umar has details from New York
