TD Ameritrade’s (AMTD) Investor Movement Index showed clients were net buyers of equities for the month of May. In fact, the IMX saw its third largest increase month-over-month since the tracking of the index began. Chief Strategist, JJ Kinahan, tells TheStreet’s Jill Malandrino the macro picture shifted a bit with as clients bought stock with volatility was increasing, but they also increased their options exposure. Kinahan says that clients were net buyers of Twitter (TWTR), which lost a quarter of its value following earnings, and other social media stocks like LinkedIn (LNKD). Other popular buys included Apple (AAPL) and Disney (DIS). Kinahan also discusses his macro view on the markets and interest rate hike speculation. He explains that markets do not like uncertainty and it would be more constructive to just get it out of the way. A 25 basis point raise won’t make that much in the grand scheme of things, but questionable timing keeps the market on edge.
