Ford Motor (F) may be best known for making the best-selling pickup truck over the past 33 years but now it also wants to be known as making the most luxurious pickup truck ever built. The new F-150 ‘Limited’ which goes on sale at the end of the year will likely start at $60,000. Ford’s F-150 Brand Manager Eric Peterson said, ‘You can see the real wood accents and the brushed aluminum accents as well. it’s got a lot of high-end features, but yet it’s still a pickup truck, and that’s why people select this over say, a high-end sedan.’ Ford hopes the new truck offering will persuade buyers who may be looking at buying both a high-end sedan and a lower-priced truck to skip the second car and just buy a pickup that has the attributes of both. The ‘Limited’ comes standard with many things you’ll see in the lower-priced trucks but one of the features which will make towing a lot easier is what’s called ‘back-up assist’. It allows drivers to input the size of the trailer they’re hauling and with the turn of a knob, back a trailer into a space. The inside of the truck looks more luxurious with Mojave leather seats, eucalyptus wood paneling and aluminum accents. Ford may be hitting the sweet spot for truck buyers. According to TrueCar, the average price U.S. buyers paid for a full-size pickup truck in the first six months of 2015 was 30-percent higher than 6 years ago.
