The Supreme Court will hear arguments over a potentially landmark civil rights case over the “moment of the threat doctrine,” which addresses how much time can be taken into consideration when police decide to use deadly force. The case stems from a routine traffic stop on a Texas highway that escalated into a fatal shooting that left 24-year-old Ashtian Barnes bleeding to death in the driver’s seat.
