For film executives, Sundance generates an excitement all its own, and with it, the lure of buying a movie that appears to be a breakout hit. Every distributor wants to find the next “Little Miss Sunshine,” but as Fox Searchlight discovered a year ago after paying almost $10 million for “The Way, Way Back,” sometime all they get is “mountain fever.”
