The Dow Jones Industrial hit 18,000 for the first time at Tuesday’s opening bell on upbeat economic data. Before the bell, investors were greeted with news that the U.S. economy grew at its fastest pace in 11 years. The Q3 GDP was revised up 5%. A separate report showed orders for durable goods unexpectedly fell in November 0.7%. The battle for Family Dollar Stores (FDO) may finally come to an end. A judge denied motions to block Tuesday’s vote on the proposed merger with Dollar Tree (DLTR). Dissident shareholders feel the company failed to properly consider a higher offer from Dollar General (DG). Keurig Green Mountain (GMCR) is recalling millions of its hot beverage-brewing machines. The affected machines could overheat and cause injury by spraying hot liquids. The recall affects 6.6 million machines in the U.S.
