Stocks open slightly above the flat line on Thursday on a slew of mixed earnings reports. Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs both reported better-than-expected first-quarter results before the open. Morgan Stanley reported a 56% jump in profit on strong revenue across its businesses, while Goldman Sachs reported an 11% drop in profit for the quarter, but results still beat analyst estimates. On the other hand, Google and IBM both reported earnings that missed estimates after Wednesday’s close.
