Enterprise software company Intuit (INTU) gave the Nasdaq a boost after beating quarterly estimates and increased its expectations for subscribers to its QuickBooks Online program by the fourth quarter. Teen retailer Aeropostale (ARO) plummeted after projecting a wider loss than a year earlier for its current quarter, a quarter which was hoped to benefit from the critical Back to School period. BlackBerry (BBRY) climbed after the company proposed a buyback program to purchase 12 million shares or 2.6% of its outstanding public float. Stocks were lower as markets analyzed what stronger inflation data might mean for the Federal Reserve’s rate hike timeline. TheStreet’s Keris Lahiff reports from New York.
