Shares of Southwest Airlines (LUV) took off on Thursday, following its earnings beat and an optimistic outlook, making it TheStreet’s Move of the Day. For the fourth quarter, Southwest reported earnings and revenue above analysts’ estimates. The airline said passenger revenue rose from last year, while fuel costs fell, giving a boost to earnings. Also, the Dallas, TX-based airline is predicting fuel costs will drop to a more than five year low level in the current quarter, helping its earnings numbers at a time when travel demand typically slows. TheStreet’s Kurumi Fukushima reports from New York.
