Google Fiber will soon be tapping into local ads. The search giant’s fiber internet and television company plans to experiment with targeted TV ads tailored to customers’ viewing habits and surrounding areas. Google Fiber expects to roll out the plan in the Kansas city area over the coming weeks. The new sales approach could mean big changes. Advertisers could theoretically gain more control over when ads are shown, how often and to what audience. It would also mean that residents of the same city could be shown different ads on the same show. Google currently makes around $60 million in annual revenue based on it targeted ads.
