Sales of the Apple (AAPL) Watch have gotten off to a solid start, with nearly one million people placing an order for the device on the first day it became available. According to research firm Slice Intelligence, 957,000 people in the U.S. pre-ordered an Apple Watch on Friday. According to eReceipt data from a panel of two million online shoppers, the firm found that customers ordered an average of 1.3 watches, spending $503.83 per watch. Those ordering an Apple Watch Sport spent about $382.83 per watch and those ordering the Apple Watch spent about $707.04. No matter what model consumers purchased, 71% opted for the larger 42 millimeter case, while the black sport band was the most popular choice among both Apple Watch and Apple Watch Sport buyers.
