BMW is stepping up a gear. The German luxury car maker has announced record numbers for 2014 selling 1.81 million vehicles worldwide. That’s a 5.3% increase in car sales from the year before. The bumper year for BMW is thanks to increased demand in the U.S. and China. BMW sped ahead of Volkswagen’s Audi brand which sold 1.74 vehicles. and Daimler’s Mercedes Benz took third place with sales of 1.65 million. BMW’s strong performance was helped by the success and stellar reviews of its new models. These include the X4 the 2-Series Active Tourer and the electric i3.
