Fourth of July is a great time to enjoy the many advantages of being an American. One more you can celebrate this year are the lower costs of just about all the commodities that will go into making your family barbecue this weekend. Corn and Wheat prices are down from their highest levels in 2013 and prices are being passed along to the consumer. That means that rolls, potato chips, sodas, cheese and just about everything else you’ll need for that BBQ will be cheaper than last year. The one holdout is beef, which is up slightly from last year, continuing its multi-year rally. Food companies have been experts at hedging their exposure into grain and meat markets and can pass savings on to consumers, as well as be unaffected themselves by the dropping prices of grains.
