CAROLINE WOODS: Peloton is pivoting, expanding… and hiking prices!
First up: it’s introducing Peloton IQ – an AI coach that gives real-time feedback, tracks reps, corrects form, and builds personalized workout plans. Basically, a personal trainer built into your machine.
It also unveiled the Cross Training Series – a refreshed line of bikes, treadmills, and rowers designed to make it easy to mix cardio, strength, yoga, and meditation.
Peloton’s going commercial too. Pro Series bikes, treadmills, and rowers are headed to hotels, gyms, and corporate wellness centers. And Peloton Spaces bring immersive workout zones to universities and residential complexes.
And yes, prices are rising. Memberships are jumping about $3 to $5 per month, hardware costs hundreds more, but Peloton says you get more value: bigger swivel screens, better audio, faster processors, and hands-free voice control.
The goal? Hook new members and expand the brand just in time for the holiday season.
So far, investors aren’t impressed. Shares are sinking in early trading Wednesday.
