European markets recovered from early losses Monday, showing resiliency after the Paris attacks. ‘We’ve seen a bounce back and actually if you look at some of the previous events that we’ve seen, in terms of the Madrid attacks, the Charlie Hebdo attacks, the London attacks, selloffs have always been fairly minimal,’ said Joshua Mahoney, market analyst with IG in London. While some sectors are retreating, such as travel and leisure stocks, oil companies are gaining ground as oil prices tick higher. Mahoney said there is a flight to quality bid in the markets, with gold and Treasuries attracting buyers. Longer term, Mahoney believes the Paris attacks will impact the French economy.
