Over-the-top streaming will be the major ‘disruptor’ in the consumer discretionary sector in 2015, said Scott Kessler, Deputy Director of Global Equity Research at S&P Capital IQ. Kessler added that the big winners as a result of this disruption will be Time Warner and Disney while Cablevision and Charter will be on the losing side of the trend. He said the U.S. will be exporting oil in the coming year and this will boost the producers while hurting the refiners. Kessler said Apple will be a big winner when its watches disrupt the technology sector. Finally, Kessler said mobile finance will shake up the financial services world in 2015 with the credit card companies being the big winners.
