Stocks closed mixed as better than expected results from JPMorgan (JPM) boosted the Dow Jones Industrial Average while weaker results from Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) capped gains on the S&P 500. The Dow and S&P 500 made small gains, while the Nasdaq closed in the red. Another surge in crude oil prices fueled a rally in energy. Exxon (XOM), BP (BP), Chevron (CVX) and Royal Dutch Shell (RDS.A) were each higher. Avon Products (AVP) spiked in afternoon trading on reports it is exploring unloading its North American operations. EU regulators have decided to formally charge Google (GOOGL) following a five-year antitrust investigation.
