The Nobel Prize for Literature was awarded Thursday to singer songwriter Bob Dylan, a seventy-five year old musician who has been writing songs for decades. The Swedish Academy said Dylan ‘created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition.’ Dylan is the first American to win the Nobel Prize for Literature since novelist Toni Morrison. Dylan will be awarded a $900,000 prize. Dylan’s most famous songs include “Tangled up and Blue,” “Like a Rolling Stone,” and “Blowin’ in the Wind,” just to name a few.
