Renault-Nissan Chairman and CEO Carlos Ghosn said he expects U.S. gas prices to remain low for the next year. Ghosn said, ‘we may shyly say that the probability of low gas prices over the next year is that they are going to continue to be low.’ Despite Ghosn’s belief that prices at the pump will remain low for the foreseeable future, he believes U.S. buyers will be interested in the fuel efficiency of Nissan’s latest model. The 2016 Altima, due in showrooms later this year, will get an impressive 39 miles a gallon. Ghosn also said the potential of an interest rate increase to hit consumer’s pocketbooks and cut into their spending power has already been priced into the market and it’s something he’s not concerned about.
