Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn said the all-new 2016 Altima has a better looking design but the biggest differentiator between the new car and its competitors is performance. ‘I think the most exciting part of this new car is the driving performance. Altima has always had a sport element to it.’ In addition to the new model, the 2016 Altima will also have a sports version with a bigger engine. In August, the 2015 Altima set a record with more than 32,000 sales. Ghosn said, ‘We’re really looking for continuous growth and that’s why we’re coming out with this revamped, enriched version of the Altima.’ Nissan’s mid-size sedan will compete with the Toyota Camry, Ford Fusion (F) , Chrysler 200 (FCAU), Chevy Malibu (GM) and the Honda Accord. The new 2016 Altima, which is set to hit showrooms later this year, will get 39 mpg on the highway, the more powerful V6 engine will get 32 mpg on the highway.
