In today’s video, we dive into the impressive release of DeepSeek R1 by DeepSeek AI, which not only rivals OpenAI’s O1 reasoning model in performance but is also fully open-source and free to use under the MIT license. We compare benchmark results across various tasks, showing DeepSeek R1’s strength and improvements over previous models. We also check out the new features and models from DeepSeek, such as distilled versions down to as small as 1.5 billion parameters. Additionally, I introduce yaFSDP from Yandex, an open-source framework to optimize GPU resources when training large language models. NVIDIA has sent over an RTX 5090, and I’m eager to test it out with various AI models, including DeepSeek R1. We also address Sam Altman’s recent statements about AGI, discuss the latest advancements in AI video generation for consistent character and background synthesis, and highlight a few interesting AI tools and projects.
