A downtrend or bearish signal occurs when the stock/index price turns lower than Supertrend indicator value. The supertrend indicator calculation goes as stated below: Upper Band = (High + Low)/2 + Multiplier *ATR Lower Band = (High + Low)/2 – Multiplier *ATR ATR (Average True Range) = [(Prior ATRx 13) + Current ATR] / 14 Here, 14 indicates a period. Hence, the AT is derived by multiplying the previous ATR with 13. Add the latest TR and divide it by period.
