Donald Sterling’s racist cant got the Clippers’ team owner in hot water with the National Basketball Association. Recently named commissioner, in the first big test of his authority, laid down the law: he slapped the Clippers’ owner with a big fine, and suspended Sterling from all team functions. For life. Sterling is now being pressed to sell his franchise, one that’s – arguably – hosting its best days after years of a desultory performance. Meanwhile, the team is fighting in the playoffs.
