That other Thanksgiving tradition — congested highways and jammed airports — is getting underway with gas prices low and terrorism fears high. An estimated 46.9 million Americans are expected to take a car, plane, bus or train at least 50 miles from home over the long holiday weekend, according to the motoring organization AAA. That would be an increase of more than 300,000 people over last year, and the most travelers since 2007. Hewlett Packard (HPQ) turned in its final quarterly earnings report as the ‘old’ company and it was a disappointment. Final earnings missed expectations. For the quarter, Hewlett Packard had net earnings of $1.32 billion, or 73 cents a share. Revenue was $25.7 billion, down 9% from a year ago. Walmart (WMT) is the subject of U.S. investigation into its business practices in Brazil. The probe centers on if Walmart made payments to an individual to help get government approval for building permits.
