The Deal’s Jaewon Kang discusses Yelp Inc.’s $134 million purchase of online food delivery company Eat24.com LLC. Yelp announced Feb. 10 that it has acquired Eat24 for $75 million in cash and 1.4 million shares of Class A common stock. The deal was completed on Feb. 9. The deal will allow Yelp to enhance its Yelp Platform initiative, according to Tom Forte, a senior analyst at Brean Capital LLC. The platform initiative, which Yelp rolled out in 2013, allows users to directly connect with businesses they find on the site. Yelp actually began partnering with Eat24 upon the launch of the initiative.
