Ford’s (F) Lincoln brand took the wraps off its new Continental luxury sedan, with the hope that a luxury car from the past will reinvigorate future sales. Lincoln stopped making the Continental in 2002, but it’s new, technologically advanced sedan will be back in showrooms this fall. Kumar Galhotra, the president of Lincoln Brands, said the Continental offers ‘quiet luxury’ and elegance for customers. The automaker is hoping that sets it apart in the competitive U.S. market, as other luxury brands emphasize speed. Lincoln has had early success in China, and plans to open 60 additional dealerships there this year. Lincoln sold more than 100,000 units in the U.S. last year, and grew 17 percent globally.
